Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

"We hope that this will be a useful complement to the range of other communication tools and templates available to support the introduction of IPV."

This kit is designed to support countries and regions in the various media activities related to the introduction of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) in light of the fact that, before the end of 2015, over 100 countries worldwide currently using oral polio vaccine (OPV) only will be introducing IPV into their routine immunisation programmes. Published by the World Health Organization (WHO), this core media kit has been developed as a reference resource. Contents include:

  2. IPV introduction: Spokesperson questions and answers
  3. How to write a press release
  4. Quick checklist for editing press releases
  5. Sample national press release
  6. How to organize a press conference"

WHO states that questions and feedback on this kit are welcome; see contact information, below.
