Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

0 comments
K4Health seeks to increase the use and dissemination of evidence-based, accurate, and up-to-date information to improve health service delivery and health outcomes worldwide. Through virtual collaboration, K4Health monitors and evaluates K4Health's products and services to ensure that they meet the needs of key audiences, including policy makers, program managers, and health service providers working in international public health settings.

Current knowledge management activities include:
  • Collectively developing "toolkits" of up-to-date and evidence-based resources that make information easy to find and easy to use;
  • Adapting existing toolkit knowledge resources for local and regional use;
  • Developing new toolkit resources - articles, guides, curricula, fact sheets, job aids, and eLearning courses;
  • Encouraging feedback about toolkit resources through discussion boards;
  • Sponsoring global, regional, and country-level forums;
  • Providing free online and offline e-learning courses on a variety of health topics; and
  • Supporting virtual networks among health care professionals, communities of practice, and technical working groups.
K4Health works with local partners to build local capacity through technical assistance while creating a sense of ownership to ensure the sustainability of country programs.
