Why Open Education Matters Video Award
The purpose of the Why Open Education Matters video competition is to raise awareness about the availability, uses, and potential for Open Educational Resources (OER) for teachers, students, and schools around the world. Participants are invited to create a short video that explains the benefits and the promise of OER for teachers and students.
OER are teaching, learning, and research materials. These might be full courses, core modules, educational videos or animations, textbooks, or interactive content like games. OER include, through Creative Commons licensing, the rights for anyone to use the educational materials.
Prizes for winning videos are US$25,000, $5000, and $1,000.
Video entries are submitted via the competition website form with the URL of the video as well as contact information. Entrants must agree to the official rules when submitting their video. When submitting a video, participants get an account on the whyopenedmatters.org website to log in to vote for the Public Choice Award.
