Tools for Planning and Implementing a Successful HIV and AIDS Treatment Advocacy Campaign
This advocacy toolkit is intended for HIV/AIDS treatment access advocates and activists acting as individuals or groups. The toolkit aims to offer an understanding of what advocacy is. It points out the advantages of planning advocacy work systematically and advises on how this can be achieved. It is intended to be used as both an information resource and as a training manual.
The toolkit looks specifically at the advocacy that is required in planning and implementing an HIV and AIDS treatment access campaign. In this context, advocacy functions to influence people and organisations with authority, and to create an environment which protects the rights, health, and welfare of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA). The toolkit identifies several issues which activists may wish to address and offers a number of contacts and web resources.
