São Tomé and Principe Integrated Malaria Materials: It’s Worth the Trouble!
Image

SummaryText
C-Change, a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), produced a set of flyers, posters, and radio spots designed for parents and health workers on malaria prevention and treatment in Sao Tome and Principe. The materials focus on promoting the use of insecticide treated nets, , indoor residual spraying, care-seeking, and drugs/treatment knowledge. The materials were produced as part of a programme in which C-Change worked with the National Center for Endemic Diseases (CNE) of the Ministry of Health and the Brazilian Corporation from 2008 to 2011 to strengthen in-country capacity and activities for malaria social and behaviour change and communication (SBCC) programmes. C-Change organised several workshops and provided ongoing technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of local health personnel on SBCC concepts, such as pre-testing and audience segmentation. Following several rounds of pre-testing and revisions, this set of materials were produced in time for Malaria Day, April 25, 2011.
