Knight Technology for Engagement Initiative

This initiative of the Knight Foundation funds ways to take technology "a step further", using it as a tool to "inspire and facilitate on-the-ground action." The Knight Foundation is looking for high-quality ideas that use technology to cultivate community engagement. For example, the first five projects help connect people to each other, and to their local institutions, as a way to foster informed and engaged communities. Organisations outside and inside of the communities already sponsored by the Knight Foundation are welcome to apply. Organisations that are not based in the United States (US) may submit a letter of inquiry (LOI) but would need to partner with a US organisation in order to receive funding. An individual may also submit an LOI, but, as stated by the Knight Foundation, an individual would only receive funding under extraordinary circumstances.
