Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

HIV/AIDS and Education: A Toolkit for Ministries of Education

SummaryText
This 45-page toolkit aims to promote HIV/AIDS preventive education and to increase understanding of the relationship between HIV/AIDS and education. It additionally seeks to impact people working in the education sector, especially mid- to senior-level officials in Ministries of Education, so that they see what a crucial role they can play in effecting change. One of the central messages of this publication is that HIV/AIDS prevention should not be left only to the health sector, but that the education sector has a crucial role to play in the response to the epidemic.

The toolkit includes information sheets, a fact sheet, case studies, a glossary, a collection of references and links, as well as a PowerPoint presentation to enable the audience to pass on information to their colleagues and counterparts.
