Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Community Home-Based Care for People and Communities: A Handbook for HIV/AIDS Community Health Workers

SummaryText
Published in PDF format from Pathfinder International, this handbook is for home health care workers in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment, and support. For those training in home-based health care through a course entitled "Community Home-Based Care (CHBC) for People and Communities Living with HIV/AIDS", this handbook is the trainee edition which accompanies the course training guide, also created by Pathfinder International and available at the same website.

The handbook chapters cover the identical chapter topics in the training guide. However, where the training guide provides written content for the training of CBHC workers, the handbook is more heavily illustrated to provide the field support necessary for guiding the caregiver and instructing the patient for self care. It is designed to serve people of various literacy levels.
