Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía - Cemefi - (Mexican Centre for Philanthropy) - Mexico

Founded in December, 1998, this civilian non-profit association seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy in Mexico and to strengthen the organised participation of society in solving community problems.
Communication Strategies
Cemefi seeks to strengthen intercommunication among non-profit sector institutions and to increase their visibility and presence in society. In this fashion, it intends to promote the association among national and international organisations and to disseminate information about opportunities in non-profit organisations and events in electronic and written media.

In an effort to promote and stimulate volunteer work and economic participation in causes that foster community development, Cemefi encourages the creation of infrastructure in information services, training, and technical assistance that social organisations require in order to professionalise their work. It has a base of specialists and professionals who offer advisory and consultant services in various areas of interest related to non-profit organisations in Mexico: legal and fiscal frameworks, policy development, institutional strengthening, volunteer work, fund raising, corporate social responsibility, communication, and visibility.
