Building a News-Coverage Agenda for Social Movements in Latin America
On January 29, 2005, a large group of representatives from communication organisations met at the World Social Forum to discuss what they perceive as critical issues for media to cover in Latin American and the Caribbean in 2005. The group also sought to review possible areas for collaboration in news coverage as well.
Meetings related to communication rights were highlighted by participants; in particular, they focused on meetings related to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the UNESCO draft convention on the protection of cultural contents and artistic expressions. The article notes that "the convention if ratified will be one of the only tools with which nations could be able to fight back against WTO patents."
The meeting facilitators emphasised that the social news agenda will change and grow throughout the year. They suggested that the news agencies should follow up on events once they are over. They also reminded people that not just meetings but meeting processes are crucial to communications activists as well. According to the article, the Social News Agenda will be compiled on this website and will also be disseminated through the “Pasalavoz” (Spread the Word) mailing list.

- March 19, 2005 - The World March Against War
- April 2005 (Havana, Cuba) and November 2005 (La Plata, Argentina): The continental campaign against the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (ALCA in its Spanish acronym).
- September 7 - October 12, 2005: Grito de los Excluidos (Cry of the Excluded) The Latin American and Caribbean social coalition will hold their continental meeting. Representatives highlighted the importance of regional strategising as most of their members had been focusing on working nationally.
- June 2005 (Martinique): The Caribbean Forum
- June 2005: Social forums, part of the World Social Forum movment, in the Triple Frontier. [The author describes the Triple Frontier as "a zone of convergence of three South American states – Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil" The past forum was poorly attended and it was noted by participants that it is an area of importance. They describe it as a place where "multinationals are buying up huge areas of South America's water-table, where patenting of biodiversity by outsiders is voracious and it has been defined by the US government as a centre of terrorism in South America."]

La Bolivie a occupé une place importante dans le Salon Internationale du Livre.
Genève, le 1er mai 2005. Edwin Perez Uberhuaga (CEM). La guerre de l´eau, la défense des ressources naturelles, la littérature et la musique bolivienne ont été très présents dans le salon International du Livre et de la presse réalisé du 27 avril au 1er mai à Genève, Suisse.
Alors qu´à Genève s´achevait la Foire, à Zurich, un jeune au père bolivien et à la mère allemande, travaillant en Suisse a été élu président de l´Association de boliviens dans cette ville de la Suisse Allemande où s´accroît, aussi, le nombre de compatriotes victimes de l´exil économique du pays.
Telle est la situation socio-économique et la ressemblance géographique avec la Suisse - celle-ci lui offrant, d´ailleurs, prioritairement une coopération technique et économique - que la Bolivie occupe une place prépondérante dans différents évènements.
Si bien que le prestigieux journaliste Raymond Zoller s´est enhardi à dire quelques mots en aymara et en quechua, tout en n´ayant jamais été dans le pays, mais sentant vibrer cette terre lointaine.

Dans la zone officielle, une présence massive de moyens audiovisuels d´Italie, d´Afrique et de Suisse s´est déployée dans un village alternatif de la même salle à Polexpo.
Le visiteur a pu sentir l´ambiance bolivienne à travers les photographies de la guerre de l´eau à Cochabamba et son enjeu social, alors qu´une exposition du Forum social de Porto Alegre était accompagnée de rythmes de la" Morenada".
Aussi, a-t-on remarqué la présence du collectif Bolivie formé par des suisses et des boliviens, jeunes du projet Waki qui éduquent les enfants du Haut-plateau et qui,à la fois, sont des membres des organisations de la défense des droits de l´homme.
Les membres du Conseil Indien Sud-américain ( CEA CISA ) Tomas Conde et Elizabeth Vocat ont fait sentir la force andine.
Au milieu de 15 conférences autour des thèmes actuels, le débat " la guerre de l´eau en Bolivie" s´est développé avec la participation de Mario Rodriguez de l´ONG Waynatambo, le collectif Bolivie et d´autres organisations suisses.
Un des plus grands meneurs de la présence bolivienne est le directeur de la "Casa de Asociaciones" Regis de Battista qui a passé son enfance en Bolivie et qui maintenant, est à la tête de l´ONG Cocasana.
Tout au long de la Foire, cet envoyé spécial a présenté son 3ème livre sur l´immigration latino-américaine avant et après le 11 septembre 2001, édition presque épuisée et la nouvelle revue "Migrante 2005" dans laquelle on narre la situation des compatriotes dans différents pays d´Europe.
Beaucoup d´entre eux, ce dimanche, ont participé, aussi, à la messe dans la communauté chrétienne latino-américaine avec la révérende Roswhita Ebner Golder qui offre une vaste orientation aux immigrés recemment arrivés et se préoccupe de leur situation précaire.
Dirigeant multiculturel
Le bolivien allemand suisse, Ishu Sanchez, a été élu président de l´Association de Boliviens à Zurich dans une assemblée faite près de la "Hauptbanhof"(la gare).
Dans un castillan marqué d´une pointe d´accent européen, il s´est engagé à approfondir les tâches menées jusqu´à présent par la direction pour avoir organisé une protestation le 23 mars 2003 en vue d´une revendication maritime bolivienne.
Aussi la direction est formée par Cesar Hidalgo, Alex Arteaga, Janneth Rodriguez, Rene Sanabria, Felix Coca et Nancy Guzmán.

There is a problem in paragraph 2 relating to the WSIS, followed by a reference to a "convention". Please note that the the Convention on Cultural Diversity is drafted by UNESCO, the WSIS is NOT a convention and is coordinated by the ITU. the article here seems to say that WSIS and the Convention are one and the same. They are not.
